Visa or American Express or?

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Getting a credit card is almost indispensable today. The funny thing is how you lose some of the services you took for granted when you destroy your American Express card like I did. Just ordering some clothes over the internet wasn’t possible and how basic is that in today’s world. The old days of cash as the preferred method of doing obtaining goods have gone.

It’s all very well using your Mastercard, Visa or American Express Card anywhere in the world but it is often for things you don’t actually nee and with money you do not have. Using your American Express credit card may be convenient but there is a cost for the convenience of paying at a later date. The amount of money owed on credit cards is growing everywhere. It is true that credit debts are one of the biggest problems that are facing America today, and that is no joke.

I couldn’t think of any other alternative but to get rid of my American Express credit card. The problem was it was too easy just hand over my card and buy things without seeing the money being spent. Mounting debts lead me to realize that I had been using my card for everything and anything including food! I was in a right state when I finally admitted that I couldn’t pay the debt.

Repaying my debt wasn’t easy and it took the help of a debt refinancing service to put me back on track. The whole situation was a nightmare. The hardship was worth it though because I am now debt free and my American Express credit card is no more. Most of you reading this will probably think it’s not the fault of the credit card but you need to understand something fundamental about human psychology.

Paying with cash makes you aware of how much things cost. As I said before, credit cards make the cost of things misleading because you don’t take any notice. I would just keep spending, not realizing until all the money was gone. So remember, if you don’t have an American Express card, you don’t have any worries.
